I Can’t Do It

Give up my blog and photography. Just can’t do it. But I can post in a more erratic manner, less often. We will see how that works! Thanks so much for all your wonderful, encouraging comments–our readers are amazing!

Monday was moving day–of the new to us refrigerator–we are too old for that kind of moving!!! Dang refrigerators are heavy! The Cowboy has had the newer refrigerator out in the shop, plugged in and making ice. He tweaked a couple things on the refrigerator and had no issues with freezing up while running. So in the house it came. Loaded into the bucket of the skidsteer then manhandled into the house. Does anyone move their refrigerator out away from the wall and clean periodically?? I don’t and geez, I could have grown a garden behind and underneath the old refrigerator!

I am loving the quietness and space of the newer refrigerator. It has two ice makers of all things–one in the refrigerator that provides ice from the door and another in the freezer drawer. You can turn off one or both with push buttons–we don’t use enough ice to need two ice makers so the freezer one is off.

It’s smoky again–with a vengeance! It rolled in from the south obscuring our view and giving the Cowboy an instant headache. It was 85 degrees at our house on Monday and again on Tuesday.

Tuesday I went to a new optometrist–in Livingston and I was very impressed. Lots of our friends use Eyecare Professionals and we took the Cowboy’s Dad there. In the past I’ve worn contact lenses but gave up as it became harder and harder to correct my vision with the monofocal lenses. This optometrist suggested I try multifocal lenses and by George–it worked! We may have to tweak the distance correction a bit–I drove home from Billings on Wednesday and noticed I wasn’t seeing highway signs very well. I also ordered a new pair of glasses. Yes, I was very pleased!

After the optometrist appointment, we met Sarge and Sarah at the Rib and Chop, picked up food and took it to the park. We enjoyed a nice meal and a long chat! Life is good!

Wednesday the poor Cowboy had two more Mohs procedures and he’s feeling a bit rough tonight. It has to get old being carved on every year and this summer he’s been carved on twice! We “enjoyed” a Costco hotdog for late lunch after our three hour stint at the dermatology clinic and picked up a few things in the store. Grocery pickup at Walmart and we were on our way home to a waiting little dog. I will be so glad when the temps cool and she can go with us.

The smoke cleared a bit today–we could at least see hazy mountains.

  1. I have never commented but I wanted to let you know I am so happy you are continuing your blog. Your projects with the Cowboy are interesting and I am so impressed with your crafting/sewing/quilting. I even went out and bought some yarn and knitting needles!

  4. Hope this is the last of the “carving” on Mike. Glad you decided to keep on going – at a slower pace. Nothing wrong with that for sure. Stay cool. Fall is right around the corner.

  5. I totally understand you being drawn back to blogging. Blogging and photography go hand in hand and are a natural outlet for one’s creativity. I have seriously tried to end my blog a dozen times or more over the years but I have not been able to do it. I suppose it could be called an addiction. I’m glad you didn’t give it up permanently. That’s too bad Mike has to continually deal with that medical problem. It’s this darn aging thing. I too wore contact lenses for a few years but tired of having to poke myself in the eyes ever day plus the usual irritants and dryness, etc.

  6. Yippee! I’m so happy we will at least hear from you whenever you feel posting. So enjoy your photos and musings! Glad the MOHs went well and The Cowboy is on the mend! We feel his pain! Nice fridge…can’t imagine two ice makers! Good luck with the contacts. I tried them once, but my allergies are so bad I often have scratchy eyes so I didn’t stick it our for long.

  11. When I first started my blog, I posted every day. Now I post whenever I have something I think my friends would like to see, or if we’re somewhere I think they’d like.     projects and your homes ‘fix its’.
    My hubby has those skin cuts also…. so much
    damage to his fair skin over many years.

  23. Love the new frig!! There is never enough room no matter how large it is. Glad you have that super handy husband! Your smoke is terrible. Doesn’t look like it will improve any time soon. Glad to read you are continuing:)

  26. We have a tool attachment that came with our sweeper to clean under the frig. Jim does this every 4 to 6 months. Works really well without moving it!

  28. I’ve worn multifocal contact lenses for several years (after wearing regular contact lenses since I was in my 20s, and that’s too many years for me to figure out, LOL). Anyway, so glad they’re working for you! I don’t like wearing glasses, either. They get in the way.
    Boo about the smoke, yay for your new fridge! And yay that you’re going to continue your blog. 🙂

    1. I was using a Costco optometrist and they kept changing–one year it would be a guy, the next year a woman–and they were always in a hurry. Time for a change and it was for the good!

  29. Great news – look at all those comments!! The difference in those two photos is severe. Even the green versus brown of the landscape. That is a beautiful refrigerator. Bill would be in heaven with two ice makers!!

  32. That new fridge looks wonderful. Mine is 38 years old and I know a new one would be more energy efficient and it would have to be quieter. Can’t get a lovely big one like yours though. A new one will have to fit into the same space as the old one & can’t be even an inch bigger in any direction.

    I’m glad you’ve decided to keep blogging, sporadic though posts may be. You always seem to be doing something interesting. Sorry about all the smoke. I wish you could have had some of the rain they had further east of us….as much as 5-7″. I’m sure they would have been willing to share too. Might have helped put out some of the fires.

Our new refrigerator doesn’t quite fit but I decided I could live with it sticking past the wall a bit–one side of it is on an open doorway into the mud/laundry room so I wasn’t as limited as you. And yes, I wish those folks out east could share that rain with all of us in the west. Even Arizona has had so much rain this year–twelve inches so far in this monsoon season!!

  33. Really tickled that you will continue to blog and share it publicly for all of us out here. It’s a hard habit to break….why would you want to actually. Just don’t do it when you don’t feel like doing it and write when you are in the mood! Works for me….who cares about the rest. I think the comments give you a pretty good idea of how much people appreciate what you photograph and write about. Good to hear.
