We had five glorious days with almost no smoke and cooler temps. Saturday the heat and smoke came back. Today, Sunday–the smoke is really awful–we can’t even see the foothills from the house. Rain is in our forecast for mid week and we are hoping the forecasters are right this time!
The Cowboy is making great progress with the fencing–the last couple days he has only worked until about noon–way too hot out there and now it’s smokey again.
In the past I made a lot of my own clothes–lined jackets, blouses, skirts, etc. For some reason I quit–patterns were strangely sized, I had more disposable income–who knows but I quit. I’ve seen women my age wearing knee length, short or sleeveless dresses in summer and they always looks so nice. So, I ordered a pattern and yesterday I made a dress using some of that quilting fabric I have. I like the dress. Today I began cutting out another one–a longer dress which I also like but made from a stretchy cotton with spandex–not sure why I bought that fabric but an entire bolt was on my shelves.
The Cowboy was to have had two Mohs procedures for skin cancer on his face on Friday at Billings Clinic dermatology. On Wednesday the phone rang and it was a man who said, “is Michael almost here?” Seems they thought his appointment was on Wednesday–nope! I did not receive any reminder calls for an appointment on Wednesday which Billings Clinic always does, sometimes even twice! We live 100 miles from Billings and if we have multiple appointments I try to schedule them on the same day. I scheduled the Mohs procedures and my haircut for Friday–not Wednesday! So of course they had no time available on Friday nor on any day the first part of next week. We have plans so now the procedures have been delayed until September 1. GRRRRR!!
I’ve been writing a blog since 2008 and it’s become a chore instead of something I enjoy. I’ve kept a journal for years and will go on keeping that journal but it will no longer be public as of September 1, 2021. We thank you all so much for following along with us during our RVing days and now our restoration days. The restoration of the house in Arizona is almost finished and it’s time for this blog to be finished also.

Janna!!! please keep in touch. I know we do see each other now and then via email and I am so sad that of the 5 blogs I read, one of them is leaving. I do so understand about the chore aspect of blogging, though, and I certainly don’t do it that often. I try to keep up with once a month. I journal as well, or take notes I should say, nothing like I used to. Back in the days of angst and hormones and young kids and all the “stuff” that somehow has receded to the farthest reaches of memory. Journaling isn’t nearly as necessary with a life that is mostly calm except for health stuff. Now you have made me realize I still haven’t blogged about our coastal trip last week. Time to get busy.

Oh! I’m sorry the blog has become a hardship….I’ve just started following you and I feel like I know you through our mutual friends. Will you still post on FB from time to time? When we first started traveling I blogged every single day without fail, but now I’ve settled down to posts when something of interest (to friends) occurs or when we see something interesting. I’ll miss you. Perhaps we’ll meet face to face this winter when we’re in Catalina SP. Thanks for letting us into your lives..

Not really a hardship, just something I don’t enjoy doing any longer. And in this day and age it makes me a little nervous to know the whole world knows what we are doing! I also used to blog every single day then went to twice weekly. I do so hope we can meet this winter–we want to meet Gay and Joe too–I think you know those guys?

Oh no…..I am sad to hear this. I don’t read a lot of blogs anymore like I once did but yours was one of the few I kept up with. It’s almost like losing touch with an old friend. We have known you and Mike for pretty well all of our RVing years. Not a lot of us ‘old-time bloggers’ left anymore from the good old blogging days a decade ago. Yes, I feel very sad tonight. I do hope you throw in some updates from time to time and keep in touch. If we ever get ourselves on the road again we will be sure to drop in to see you in Arizona.

Thanks Deb! It was fun to be sewing again. These are basal cell cancers and not as dangerous as the squamous cell ones. Yes, it’s always hot in Arkansas too but they have been getting rain. Still no more plantar fasciitis for me after I found those shoe inserts!

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for years and will greatly miss it. You were kind of a weather reporter for me. What weather you got in Montana usually got to us in Nebraska in a couple days. Especially in the winter. Crazy, huh?
I got a couple calls from a clinic saying they were calling about instructions for Lawrence about his radiology appointment tomorrow. Tried calling the number to let them know they had the wrong number, no Lawrence here. Got some garbled message about roaming and needed to arrange for payment. Hung up. Lawrence is on his own!

Hi Janna so sorry to hear you are not going to blog anymore. We only met once in Florida and it has always felt like we have known you forever. Mike and my husband Sheldon are very similar in the fact that they can turn their hand to anything. Hopefully the border here in Canada will open this winter and we can come south this winter. So sad to hear you’ve decided to quit blogging. We moved from Alberta to Vancouver Island 13 years ago, and surprisingly what we miss most is our many trips to Montana (Whitefish, Kalispell, Missoula, Bozeman) … it’s just too far to visit very often anymore. Anyway, I’ve so enjoyed catching up on life in Montana with you, as well as your adventures in Arizona. I’ve never used Facebook (that’s the privacy issue for me). Good luck with “the Cowboy’s” Moh’s procedures … been through that with my DH about 30-odd years ago. Happy and healthy adventures to the 3 of you, wherever the wind blows you!

Now he only blogs when we travel. Now you’ll just have to post photos on Insta and FB so we can see what’s happening. Darn that smoke. We have high winds today that have ushered in the smoke again. I will miss your blog so much. I can’t begin to tell you how I’ve enjoyed seeing Montana through your eyes. We sold our 5th wheel in February when my husband decided he wasn’t able to properly maintain it any longer (we are in our 80’s). We have been camping for 60 years and stopping is very hard. But at least we still have our health and can travel. Would love to follow you on Facebook, if possible.
Are you still finding your Kuru’s comfortable? I am on my 5th pair. So glad you took my suggestion!!

We both LOVE our Kuru’s!! The Cowboy has a chronic bad ankle from breaking it three different times in his life. The Kuru’s have totally taken away his ankle pain! If he wears a different shoe for very long the ankle pain comes back! I am sending you an email about the Facebook question.
