Graduation and Happy Mother’s Day

We know how blessed we are to have our Mom with us–this photo was taken on the occasion of her 80th birthday. Michael’s mom, Joy, died in 2000 and we miss her greatly.  We wish all our reader moms a very happy Mother’s Day!

A favorite photo of Michael’s

This all dressed up photo of Joy was taken in 1954.

Really–does spring cleaning ever end??  Friday I used those new knee pads from Amazon crawling around the living/dining/kitchen/mud room mopping the floors by hand–it’s NOT something I do often but sometimes the floors just need a good scrubbing.  I’ve washed a few windows so it would rain–which it did.  Out of this chilly storm we had almost 1.5 inches of rain.

Friday afternoon back in Arkansas my nephew graduated from college–YEA Clayton!!  He’s also engaged to a wonderful young woman–Hannah–and she too graduated on Friday.

As you can see, my two nephews did not inherit their height from mom Vicky. 🙂  Two young men making us all proud.

My out of control tulip bouquet purchased at Costco on Thursday.

Our lazuli bunting birds are back–

And Emmi is still killing sticks–

  1. Hooray! I can tell my husband I am not the only one who will use knee pads to clean the tile floors and a toothbrush to clean the grout lines. Yes, we have steamer and no, it’s not better than my plan of action. Thanks for your post from the bottom of my heart!❤️

    1. You are so funny Carolyn!! I only do the toothbrush/grout thing once in a blue moon. I wouldn’t use a steamer on my hardwood floors, maybe on the tile but I like getting down there so I can see what’s dirty!

  2. That is such a cool picture of Mike and his parents, and the darling one of his mom that sure goes back in time. Don’t work too hard take a few days off

    1. Thanks Geri–we don’t have many older photos of Joy when she was raising Mike, I think because she was usually the one behind the camera. We are taking LOTS of time off–I sat in my chair yesterday most of the day and stitched on a wool project, Mike read a book–ohhhh and he’s been painting again!

  3. Great family photos:) The Bunting bird is so pretty!! It’s a lot easier to call Stanley Steemer to do the floors. They are my new best friends for floor/carpet cleaner:) It’s nice of Emmi to keep you safe from all those dangerous sticks!

    1. Stanley Steemer would probably charge me a fortune in mileage as far out as we live. It’s not as if our house is huge either so it’s OK–and I don’t do it often–vacuuming works well most of the time.

Beautiful pics as always. I especially enjoyed seeing the birds.

    1. I bet we could still find some dust bunnies even after all the cleaning–I used to be fanatical about cleaning–when I worked full time, weekends were for cleaning. Not any more, if it looks clean, it is clean is my motto!! 🙂 Wedding is in October, a trip to Arkansas will be in order.

  5. Few things feel better than a clean house 🙂 Great family pics. Michael was destined to be a cowboy! I love your wild tulips – so pretty. Good to see the sticks are being put in their place :-)))))
